Empathy is one of the most powerful skills we can teach our children – but it can feel like such a large, important topic. You may be wondering: “Where do we start?” In today’s fast -moving, often self -focused world, the upbringing of sensitive children requires intent, consciousness and continuous discussions. It is something that I find incredibly important. Therefore in this episode of Chat chatI sit down with Monica Berg to explore How parents can start to introduce and promote empathy in their children at a young age. Monica divides her wisdom about age -appropriate strategies, the effects of empathy on relationships and how to model them through our own daily actions.
Who is Monica Berg?

Monica Berg is an international speaker, spiritual pioneer, bestselling author (Fear is not an optionPresent LovingAnd The gift to be different) and co-moderator of the Spiritually hungry podcast. Monica is a self-proclaimed “change junkie” and is a fresh voice that channeles her long-standing Kabbalistic study together with personal life experiences. Monica shows people how to create a life that not only feels like it is working, but above all a life in which they live and love as a powerful, fulfilled person who have always wanted to be.
What did we discuss?
In this episode, I talk to Monica about empathy in children, why it is important and when to present the concept. Here are some of the questions we dealt with in our conversation:
- How did you become passionate for spirituality?
- How would you define empathy?
- How should we talk about empathy and present the concept of our children? Are there age -appropriate strategies that you recommend?
- How can the development of empathy influence the future relationships and social interactions of a child at a young age?
- How can Parents create a safe space for children to express their feelings and develop empathy?
- What strategies can parents use at home to encourage their children to talk about their feelings?
- How should parents approach empathy with children who may have difficulty understanding the feelings of others?
- What long -term advantages do you see in children who grow up with a strong feeling of empathy?
- What is advice you would offer? Parents who are willing to teach their child (ren) about empathy?
As you know, teaching of empathy is not a one -time conversation. It is a lifelong practice that begins at home. And as Monica reminded us, it is the key to help you grow to compassionate, self -confident adults. Regardless of whether your child is a toddler that is just beginning to understand feelings or navigate a few friendships, it is never too early – or too late – to promote empathy in our children. I hope this episode inspires you to lead with love, listen to deeper and model the kind of empathy that we all want to see more in the world.
